Insurance policy for Egyptians abroad... coming soon
Amid active developments in recent days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Financial Regulatory Authority, is preparing to soon launch a new insurance policy for Egyptians abroad. The policy covers compensation for personal accidents, cases of arbitrary dismissal from employment overseas, and instances of mass deportation of workers.
Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, stated that the new insurance umbrella is a result of the Seventh Conference of Egyptians Abroad. He noted that a cooperation protocol was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Financial Regulatory Authority, aiming to expand the previously issued personal accident insurance policy to include cases of arbitrary dismissal, total permanent disability resulting from an accident, natural death, or death resulting from an accident. The policy will be implemented through the Egyptian Group for Outbound Travel Insurance.
The policy provides compensation of 100,000 Egyptian pounds to an Egyptian citizen abroad in the event of proven arbitrary dismissal, termination of the employment contract, and deportation for reasons beyond their control, as well as group returns due to political or economic reasons. In the event of total permanent disability resulting from an accident, the subscriber receives compensation valued at 250,000 pounds. The policy covers repatriation costs of the deceased’s body to Egypt, up to a maximum of 250,000 pounds. If the family prefers not to repatriate the body, the actual transportation costs will be paid to the heirs. This coverage is available for an annual premium of only 400 pounds. Egyptians abroad can subscribe to the policy via the “EPTI-EGYPT” mobile application or by visiting the website of the Egyptian Group for Outbound Travel Insurance.
Sources in the Egyptian Tax Authority reported that tax revenues in Egypt for the previous fiscal year 2025/2026, which ended in June 2026, rose by 17.5% year-on-year according to preliminary estimates, reaching 2.59 trillion pounds, compared to 2.204 trillion pounds in the prior fiscal year—an increase of approximately 386 billion pounds. This growth was attributed to the implementation of new tax facilitation packages, the expansion of digitalization, and a rise in the resolution of tax disputes.
