Kuwait Municipality officials announced the formation of specialized field teams deployed across all governorates of the country, with the aim of monitoring and following up on the “bachelors’ file” in private and model residential areas, and intensifying legal oversight to prevent any manifestations that disrupt the demographic and social composition of these areas.
Engineer Nizar Al-Awad, head of the committee for monitoring bachelors’ housing in private and model residential areas, told “Al-Rai” that the work of these teams complements the tasks of the “Bachelors Committee,” emphasizing that “the new initiative focuses primarily on identifying and monitoring bachelors in private residential areas, and collaborating with participating government entities in a team spirit to prevent all phenomena that could negatively affect the comfort of residents in these areas.”
He pointed out that there is coordination and integration of roles between the municipality’s teams and relevant government authorities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs, to ensure swift response and firm legal action against any violations identified on the ground.
He stressed that a package of stringent measures will be taken against property owners proven to have rented their homes to bachelors in private residential areas. These measures will not be limited to issuing warnings; they will extend to cutting off electricity supply in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity, imposing financial fines, and other penalties to deter violators and enforce compliance with Law No. 125 of 1992, which prohibits non-family members from residing in these areas.
