7.2-magnitude earthquake strikes southern Peru

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck southern Peru on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey, with no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The epicenter was located approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Ocoña, at a distance of roughly 800 kilometers from the capital, Lima, and occurred at a depth of 66 kilometers. Meanwhile, Peru’s Geophysical Institute estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 7.2.
