"Disclosure is Mandatory"... Customs Instructions to Avoid Legal Liability

The General Customs Authority has stressed the necessity for travelers to declare any funds in their possession when entering or leaving Kuwait, if the value of currencies or negotiable financial instruments amounts to 3,000 Kuwaiti dinars or more. It emphasized that failure to comply with this requirement exposes violators to legal accountability.
Customs instructions directed to travelers clarified that the declaration covers any currencies or negotiable financial instruments held by an individual, provided their value meets the legally specified threshold. Travelers were urged to adhere to the prescribed procedures to avoid any legal repercussions.
These instructions are based on Law No. 106 of 2013 and Minister of Finance Decision No. 37 of 2013, within the framework of regulations governing the movement of funds across border crossings and to reinforce compliance with disclosure requirements.
Customs affirmed that travelers’ awareness of the regulations and their declaration of funds subject to declaration contribute to facilitating customs procedures and avoiding violations.
The Customs Authority called on all travelers to cooperate and comply with the instructions when entering or leaving the country, emphasizing that declaring required funds is not optional but a legal obligation.
