Bloomberg reported that Kuwait continues to demonstrate its ability to maintain economic stability and strengthen its investment presence, even as the region experiences rapid developments. The agency noted that the country relies on strong financial and economic fundamentals, as well as accumulated expertise in navigating regional challenges.

The report highlighted that Kuwait is able to sustain its economic and investment activities amid regional circumstances, thanks to a substantial financial base that supports continued funding for development and growth plans. It emphasized that regional cooperation and effective fiscal policies are bolstering the economy’s resilience to crises, with recovery indicators emerging due to the strength of sovereign wealth and effective interventions.

The agency added that the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has continued its operational and investment activities, culminating in a $16 billion pipeline deal with Blackstone, Brookfield, and MKR, marking one of the largest foreign direct investment deals in Kuwait’s history.

According to Bloomberg, the deal reflects sustained interest from international investors in Kuwait’s energy sector, as well as the ability of global companies to collaborate with Kuwaiti institutions on long-term strategic projects.

The agency quoted KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who stated that the future of energy security will be determined by enhancing resilience across the entire value chain. He noted that this entails for the corporation building a more interconnected, resilient, and diversified energy system, thereby preserving its status as a reliable energy supplier to global markets.

The report affirmed that Kuwaiti officials continue to send a clear message to international investors that Kuwait is open for business and investment. It pointed out that several top executives from global investment institutions visited the country in recent months, including Jenny Johnson, CEO of Franklin Templeton, and Bruce Flatt, CEO of Brookfield.

These visits, according to the report, reflect the ongoing interest of global investment institutions in opportunities available in Kuwait, and investors’ keenness to follow the country’s development and economic expansion plans.

In this context, Bloomberg confirmed that the government has recently worked to secure oil export routes and ensure the continuity of economic and service activities. It succeeded in maintaining the oil supplies necessary to operate power plants and water desalination facilities, while also working to increase production and secure tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz, as part of its efforts to maintain stability in the energy sector.

Bloomberg further clarified that Kuwait has focused in recent months on ensuring the continuity of economic activity and maintaining business flows, leveraging the strength of its institutions and their ability to act swiftly, alongside the financial buffers provided by its sovereign wealth fund.

The agency noted that Kuwait’s historical experience, foremost among it the country’s liberation in 1991, has helped entrench a national culture rooted in resilience, solidarity, and readiness to address various circumstances, which is reflected today in the swift response of society and government bodies to regional developments.

The agency quoted Badr Al-Saif, a history professor at Kuwait University and a non-resident senior fellow at Chatham House, as saying that Kuwait’s historical experience has strengthened society’s clear capacity to handle challenges. He pointed out that Kuwaitis view the current phase as a new chapter in the nation-building process and in safeguarding the country’s independence, adding that Kuwait is accustomed to managing external challenges and navigating a complex regional environment. He explained that this historical experience has contributed to building national and societal capacities that enhance the country’s ability to confront changes.

Bloomberg noted that the Kuwaiti economy has maintained healthy liquidity levels thanks to its financial strength and robust external position. It highlighted that Kuwait possesses one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, with assets exceeding $1 trillion, providing the country with a strong financial base to support economic stability and fund development and investment plans.

The agency quoted Daniel Kai, chief economist at National Bank of Kuwait, as saying that several indicators of economic activity have risen significantly compared to the initial levels recorded at the onset of the events.

The report affirmed that Kuwait continues to strengthen its ties with regional and international partners, while working diplomatically to consolidate relations with European and Arab allies, thereby bolstering its regional standing and safeguarding its economic and strategic interests.

In this context, Bloomberg quoted Sheikh Meshal Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Authority, as saying that Kuwait continues to attract long-term investments and drive sustainable economic transformation by enhancing a business environment based on trust, innovation, and sustainable growth. He noted that the country’s ability to continue its development path rests on solid economic foundations and a forward-looking vision.
