Sisi reaffirms to Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Egypt's rejection of any infringement on Qatar's sovereignty and stability, and that of Arab countries

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in New Alamein, reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support and backing for the security of sisterly Qatar and all Arab states, and its total rejection of any attempts to undermine their sovereignty and stability.

The Egyptian presidency stated in a press release on Thursday that the two sides discussed developments in regional issues, with el-Sisi highlighting the importance of containing the current regional escalation, taking into account its repercussions on regional stability, as well as its economic and trade impacts. He commended the strenuous efforts Egypt is making to de-escalate the current situation.

The President and the Prime Minister discussed ways to enhance existing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and Qatar to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the necessity for all parties to fulfill their commitments under President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan, which would consolidate stability and contribute to the swift commencement of the early recovery and reconstruction process.

According to the statement, el-Sisi and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman stressed the need to enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip. They agreed to continue coordination regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and to preserve regional peace and stability in general.

El-Sisi expressed his aspiration to further strengthen ties across various political, commercial, and investment sectors, and to increase Qatari investments in Egypt, affirming the Egyptian state’s readiness to provide necessary facilitations.

For his part, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman conveyed greetings from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his appreciation for the “brotherly” relations, emphasizing the Qatari side’s commitment to working with its Egyptian counterpart to develop these relations and expand them to broader horizons.

In a separate meeting on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Egyptian-Qatari Supreme Joint Committee, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli told Mohammed bin Abdulrahman of the importance of close and continuous coordination on various regional issues and files, which would contribute to supporting efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.

Madbouli expressed his aspiration to continue advancing cooperation frameworks in various fields and sectors, and to enhance cooperation with sisterly Qatar in the energy sector.

For his part, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman affirmed the depth and strength of relations, characterized by close partnership and coordination on many files and issues of mutual interest, particularly at the regional level, especially regarding the Palestinian issue.

Prior to that, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman praised coordination and consultation on various regional issues, affirming their shared commitment to continuing the development of relations in all fields and appreciating the noticeable progress in economic and investment ties.

They stressed the importance of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and returning to the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, building upon it to resume the negotiation process, leading to a final and sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties and contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.

They emphasized the importance of ensuring the security, safety, and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and continuing close coordination with the United States and regional partners to ensure the implementation of the Gaza peace plan and to push Israel to comply with the obligations of the first phase and the announced roadmap.

They warned against settlement expansion, the escalation of settlers’ attacks, and incursions and provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing the necessity of halting unilateral Israeli measures.

The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination, “in support of Lebanon’s security and stability, its sovereignty, and the integrity of its territory, as well as the necessity of achieving Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese lands, and supporting national state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese Army.”

They also warned of “the severity of the humanitarian deterioration in Sudan,” stressing “their support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, and their rejection of any attempts to divide the country or create parallel entities.”

In statements to Al Arabiya channel on Wednesday, Abdel-Ati said that “the peoples of the region are paying the price of escalation through the impact on energy and food security, as a result of disruptions to supply chains, and efforts must be doubled to de-escalate tensions, with the expiration of the 60-day deadline.”

He reiterated his country’s firm and resolute position on the Nile River waters file, stressing that Cairo “will not allow the imposition of any fait accompli or the taking of unilateral steps that affect its historical water share or the flow of the river.”
