Kuwait's First Victory at the Asian Youth Handball Championship

Kuwait’s junior national handball team secured a comfortable 29-19 victory over their Syrian counterparts in the opening match of the preliminary round of the 11th Asian Championship, which kicked off on Thursday in Jordan and will run until the 31st.

The Kuwaiti side imposed its dominance throughout the contest, with its players delivering an outstanding performance, particularly in the second half. They successfully executed their tactical and technical plans on both offensive and defensive ends, underscoring their readiness to compete and achieve their goal of advancing to the later stages.

“Azraq Al-Nashiin” (the Junior Blues) will play their second match of the tournament tomorrow, Friday, against Qatar at 2:00 PM, as part of the second round of the preliminary stage. This is a crucial fixture for Kuwait, which aims to maintain its strong start and secure a second consecutive victory.

Other matches scheduled for tomorrow include India versus South Korea, Iran versus Saudi Arabia, and Jordan versus Bahrain. All participating teams will have a rest day on Saturday before competition resumes.

Under the tournament’s format, the four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify for the upcoming World Championship, making the pursuit of top positions a primary objective for Kuwait since the championship began.

The junior squad prepared well for the tournament through a European training camp held in Slovenia and Croatia, where they played several exhibition matches. After returning to Kuwait, they entered an internal training camp, which included two friendly matches against the Bahrain national team, which is also preparing to participate in the Asian Championship.
