Al-Zaidi Visits Kuwait Rugby Committee: 'Asian' Support for Efforts to Develop the Sport in Kuwait

Qais Abdullah Al-Zalaei, President of the Asian Rugby Football Union, visited the Kuwait Rugby Committee, where he was received by Sheikh Sabah Jaber Al-Sabah, the Committee’s President, and members of its Board of Directors, at the Kuwait Olympic Committee headquarters.

The meeting discussed ways to develop rugby in Kuwait, expand participation, and establish sustainable programs and pathways for players, coaches, referees, and administrators, alongside strengthening cooperation between the Asian Union and the Kuwaiti Committee in the coming phase.

Al-Zalaei also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia for the West Asia region, for the Olympic Committee’s support during the foundational stages of establishing the Kuwait Rugby Committee. He commended the efforts and follow-up of Ali Jaber Al-Mari, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, in completing the procedures for the Committee’s formation and launch.

For his part, Sheikh Sabah Jaber Al-Sabah expressed his appreciation for the visit by the Asian Union President, reaffirming the Committee’s aspiration for a strong and sustainable partnership with the continental federation, and leveraging its expertise and support to develop the sport in Kuwait.

Both sides confirmed at the conclusion of the meeting their commitment to continuing cooperation and joint efforts to advance the progress of rugby in Kuwait and support its growth and development in the coming phase.
