Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, stated that the selection of Wadha Al-Azmi to serve on the Youth Committee of the World Blind Union, representing the Asian continent, marks a first of its kind for Kuwait and the Gulf region. This achievement reflects the ability of Kuwaiti youth to participate and represent their country on international platforms, and it enhances Kuwait’s standing and reputation for supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.

Al-Huwail emphasized, in a statement to the media following her meeting with Al-Azmi on Wednesday, the continued support for persons with disabilities and their empowerment, as well as providing opportunities for their active participation at both the local and international levels, thereby highlighting their capabilities and contributions across various fields.

She added that Al-Azmi’s selection was part of the Youth Committee, which comprises six representatives, each representing one of the world’s continents. She noted that during the meeting, she was briefed on the role of the World Blind Union, which includes hundreds of organizations from more than 190 countries and represents approximately 335 million blind and visually impaired people worldwide. The union works to promote their rights, empower them, and ensure their full participation in society.
