Kuwait's holdings of U.S. Treasury securities increased by $10.77 billion

Kuwait increased its holdings of U.S. Treasury securities by 18.55 percent year-on-year at the end of June last year, adding $10.77 billion and continuing to set record levels in its holdings of these securities, reaching $68.82 billion, compared to $58.05 billion at the end of June 2025.

The monthly report issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury clarified that Kuwait’s holdings of Treasury securities rose by approximately 3.01 percent, or $2.01 billion, from their level in May 2026, which stood at $66.81 billion.

During the first half of 2026, Kuwait’s investments in these securities increased by $2.77 billion, or 4.19 percent, from $66.05 billion at the end of 2025.

According to the report, long-term securities continued to account for the largest share of Kuwait’s investments in U.S. Treasury securities, valued at $66.66 billion, while short-term securities amounted to approximately $2.16 billion.

Saudi Arabia continued to lead the list of the largest Arab investors in U.S. Treasury securities, with holdings reaching $142.5 billion, placing it 17th globally, while the United Arab Emirates came second among Arab countries and 19th globally, with holdings valued at $114.8 billion.

Overall, total foreign country investments in U.S. Treasury securities reached approximately $9.30 trillion at the end of June 2026, an increase of 2.31 percent compared to $9.09 trillion at the end of June 2025, while declining by 0.75 percent on a monthly basis.

The monthly data issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury is limited to country investments in U.S. Treasury bills and bonds, and does not include other government or private investments within the United States.
