A Night of Loyalty... for Al-Suwailemi
Veteran swimmers and enthusiasts of the sport celebrated the recovery of Mohammed Al-Saqqabi, the former director of water sports at Al-Qadsia Club, from a health issue that had affected him. The event, marked by a strong turnout, reflected deep appreciation and the high standing that “Uncle Abu Abdullah” enjoys among swimmers and athletes in Kuwait.
The diwan (reception hall) opened its arms on Monday evening to welcome well-wishers in the Al-Aridiyah area, attended by a number of veteran and current swimmers, as well as a group of athletes.
In a statement to “Al-Rai,” Mohammed Al-Saqqabi, former director of water sports at Al-Qadsia Club, expressed his profound gratitude and pride at the presence of his colleagues from the “golden era” of sports at this fraternal gathering. He emphasized that their gracious attendance reflected the depth of loyalty and appreciation for the long-standing friendship whose roots trace back to 1964 and the days of the swimming pool at Al-Shuwaikh Secondary School.
Al-Saqqabi stressed the importance of holding such periodic meetings and gatherings on various occasions to reinforce bonds of brotherhood and family ties, and to provide opportunities for renewing connections among fellow swimming enthusiasts who have shared the journey together.
He directed his thanks and appreciation to “Al-Rai” newspaper and its management for their continuous support and consistent coverage of such social and sports events, and also thanked all attendees for their presence and generous participation.
For his part, veteran athlete Abdul Salam Abdullah Al-Shatti noted that the fraternal gathering of veteran and new swimmers came together to ensure the well-being of their brother, president, and father, Mohammed Al-Saqqabi, who was recently discharged from the hospital, praise be to God, after recovering.
The gathering saw a notable presence of many veteran and new swimmers, who made a point of meeting in a friendly encounter that embodied the deep human and fraternal bonds connecting club members over the years, and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining continuous communication among themselves.
