Egypt targets adding 370 million cubic feet of gas per day by end of 2026

Al Arabiya - The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is seeking to add approximately 370 million cubic feet per day of natural gas to the national gas network before the end of the second half of 2026, with estimated investments of around $850 million.
A source told Al Arabiya Business that the targeted production will be gradually connected through nine new development and exploration wells, with three wells scheduled for August and September next year, and six additional wells in the last quarter of this year. This will accelerate the transition of new discoveries into commercial production and narrow the gap between production and domestic consumption.
The source clarified that approximately 30% of the targeted volumes, equivalent to 110 million cubic feet per day, will be used to compensate for the natural decline in production from some existing fields, while an additional 260 million cubic feet per day will be injected into the national natural gas network to meet the needs of various economic sectors before the end of the year.
The source added that the new wells are distributed across several promising production areas, including five offshore wells in the deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea and four other wells in the Gulf of Suez and Nile Delta regions. He noted that the projects are being implemented by major international companies, including Italy’s Eni, Shell, Apache, and Cairn Petroleum.
