'Spider-Man' Revenues Continue to Soar in the US

AFP – “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continued its dominance at the North American box office, earning an additional $70 million in ticket sales during its third weekend since its release, according to estimates from the U.S. film industry.

The film, starring Tom Holland and his wife Zendaya, has grossed more than $2 billion worldwide since its opening on July 31, according to Exibitor Relations, a company specializing in film industry research and data.

Marvel’s latest film recorded the highest domestic box office revenue for any single weekend ever, earning $360 million, thereby surpassing the record set by Disney’s “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, excluding inflation adjustments.

Christopher Nolan’s epic “The Odyssey” came in second place by a wide margin, earning $23.2 million domestically in its fifth weekend of release.

The sci-fi thriller “The End of Oak Street,” starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, earned $21 million, taking third place during its opening weekend.

“KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS,” which tells the story of the pop girl group of the same name, ranked fifth, earning $3.6 million.
