Al-Zaidi: We cannot remain hostages to a single oil export corridor

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi confirmed that his country is among the most severely affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that “Iraq cannot remain hostage to a single corridor for exporting its oil.”
Speaking during a meeting with oil sector leaders in Baghdad on Monday, he stated that “every barrel of oil that goes unsold translates into delayed salaries and losses for the state treasury,” emphasizing that the government is obligated to find practical and swift solutions to ensure continued exports.
He also urged oil sector leadership to expedite the development of practical solutions, upgrade and develop oil pipelines, and contract with global companies to market and sell Iraqi oil.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi judiciary has been working on anti-corruption cases, specifically the case involving Adnan al-Jumaili, Deputy Minister of Oil, since 2025. Following the completion of investigations led by the Anti-Corruption Court under the presidency of Judge Diaa Jafar, Zaidan issued directives to expand investigative operations, which led to the “Dawn Raid,” during which several members of parliament were arrested after their parliamentary immunity was lifted.
