Civil Defense warns: Do not leave smart electronic devices on beds while charging

The General Fire Force has warned against the dangers of unsafe use of smart electronic devices, emphasizing the importance of adhering to preventive guidelines to avoid battery overheating and the potential for fires to break out in homes.
Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of Public Relations and Media at the General Fire Force, stressed to Al-Rai the necessity of handling smart electronic devices with caution, particularly mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, especially during charging.
Al-Gharib stressed that devices should not be placed on beds or other flammable surfaces while charging, as this can cause battery temperatures to rise and increase the likelihood of a fire.
He advised against leaving devices connected to a power source for extended periods or using them in ways that may cause overheating, and urged vigilance regarding any unusual signs on the device or battery.
Al-Gharib also emphasized that following simple safety procedures when using electronic devices helps mitigate fire risks, urging families not to underestimate the dangers posed by batteries and smart devices.
He stressed the importance of swift action in case of an emergency, immediately calling the emergency number 112, staying away from the source of danger, and avoiding putting people at risk while attempting to deal with a fire.
