Google Launches Gemini 3.7 Flash AI Model

Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, launched the Gemini 3.7 Flash model on Thursday, its latest artificial intelligence model designed for automated software coding and business tasks, but did not disclose details regarding the release date of the flagship “Pro” version.

Investors are closely watching the launch of Gemini 3.5 Pro, Google’s flagship model, to see whether its DeepMind AI unit can keep pace with competitors Anthropic and OpenAI.

Google said in July that the Gemini 3.5 Pro model was undergoing testing with partners and would be released “soon,” according to Reuters.

The company is promoting Gemini 3.7 Flash as a lower-cost option for businesses building independent AI systems capable of planning tasks, using software tools, and completing multi-step workflows with less human intervention.

Gemini 3.7 Flash was launched three weeks after the release of Gemini 3.6 Flash.

In a Google blog post, the company stated that the new model showed improved performance in programming tasks, including debugging, problem-solving, and generating ready-to-use code for production environments.

To encourage adoption, Google is offering Gemini 3.7 Flash at an introductory price of 75 cents per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through the end of the year, representing half the original cost of the Gemini 3.6 Flash model.

The model will be immediately available in Gemini Spark, Google’s subscription-based AI agent service, accessible to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra customers in more than 160 countries.

Reuters reported on Wednesday that Sergey Brin, one of Google’s co-founders, has urged senior AI staff in recent months to focus entirely on the Gemini model as parent company Alphabet seeks to close the gap with competitors.

The tech giant announced a sweeping leadership overhaul in its Google DeepMind AI division last week, with CEO Demis Hassabis stepping down in favor of his deputy, Koray Kavukoglu. At the same time, the original technical leaders of Gemini resigned to launch a startup.

CEO Sundar Pichai strongly defended Google’s AI strategy during the earnings conference in July, dismissing concerns that the company had fallen behind competitors following delays in releasing its flagship model and setbacks in AI coding.
