Ciro Immobile announces retirement from football

Italian striker Ciro Immobile announced his retirement from football at the age of 36, in a video posted on Friday via the official accounts of his final club, French side Paris FC.

Immobile, who joined Paris FC in January, said, “This is a very difficult moment for me, as it marks the end of one of the greatest chapters of my life. I loved this profession with all my heart, but I want to be honest with myself about my current situation.”

The Italian striker scored 350 goals in 656 matches across the various clubs he played for.

Immobile began his career with Juventus, but made his most significant impact in the Italian Serie A with Lazio (2016–2024), where he became the club’s all-time top scorer with 207 goals in 340 appearances.

In 2020, he was awarded the European Golden Shoe, given to the top scorer in European leagues during the season.

Conversely, he failed to achieve the expected success with Paris FC, scoring just two goals in 13 matches.
