The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation and denunciation of the targeting of two tankers owned by the UAE’s ADNOC while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as an unacceptable repetition of Iranian attacks on commercial ships and tankers.
In a statement, the ministry said: “The Kingdom emphasizes that the recurrence of these attacks constitutes a serious escalation and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, as well as to global energy supply security. It represents a grave violation of international laws and norms, and an open challenge to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirmed the necessity of respecting the rights and freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, and condemned any actions or threats that could obstruct such navigation.”
The Kingdom placed full responsibility on Iran for the consequences of its continued attacks, calling on Iran to immediately halt these violations and respect relevant international laws. It reaffirmed that the security of the region and the safety of international navigation are shared responsibilities, and that the continuation of such attacks is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.
The Kingdom renewed its full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates, reaffirming its support and backing for the measures the UAE takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national assets.
