ADNOC announces that two of its ships were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz; UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the targeting

The United Arab Emirates expressed its strong condemnation and outrage over the aggressive Iranian attack that targeted two ADNOC-owned tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscores freedom of navigation and rejects the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international sea lanes. The ministry stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic pressure or coercion constitutes acts of piracy by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, posing a direct threat to regional stability, its peoples, and global energy security.

The UAE emphasized the necessity for Iran to halt these aggressive attacks, thereby ensuring its full commitment to ceasing all hostile acts and fully and unconditionally reopening the strait, in order to safeguard regional security and the stability of the global economy and trade.

Earlier, ADNOC announced that two of its vessels were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of Thursday, August 13. The attack resulted in no injuries, and the situation was brought under control.
