Israeli Broadcasting Authority: Peace Council Settles Hamas Debts

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that, under the agreement reached between the Peace Council, intermediary states, and Hamas, a commitment has been made to settle debts owed to the movement totaling $400 million. This refers to a vague formulation in Article 5 of the document, which stipulates that the funds will be transferred to suppliers and contractors.

A Peace Council official confirmed this information, clarifying that the money will be paid to public employees who have not received their dues, as well as to suppliers and contractors who provided services to the population and are still owed money.

The Peace Council stressed that every payment claim will be examined individually, and that this does not constitute a commitment to cover “Hamas’s corruption or any other financial mismanagement linked to its rule in Gaza, or anything related to Hamas’s record in terrorism and repression,” according to the official.
