Yazan Al-Saeed to "Al-Rai": "Missed" ... A Song That Tells Life, "Move On"
Jordanian artist Yazan Al-Saeed has chosen to turn a new page in his artistic career from Cairo, where he recently relocated to reside. His debut in the city comes with his new song “Fawwat” (Let It Go), featuring lyrics and melody by Al-Saeed himself, with poetry by Adham Moutaz, while Omar Ismail handled the arrangement, mixing, and mastering. The track is set to be released tomorrow, Thursday, coinciding with the filming of its music video in the Zamalek district, marking Al-Saeed’s first filming experience in the Egyptian capital.
In a statement to “Al-Rai,” Al-Saeed explained that “the song’s title reflects part of its concept and message, calling for overcoming daily pressures and not dwelling too long on details that exhaust us, but rather viewing life with a more positive spirit—the vibe I aimed to convey in a youthful work with a light rhythm and direct, relatable lyrics.”
He added, “‘Fawwat’ expresses a state we all experience. Life is full of pressures and situations that may drain us, but sometimes the solution lies in letting certain things go and allowing them to pass, focusing on the beautiful and simple aspects of our lives—in other words, ‘just let it go.’”
Al-Saeed continued, “I was keen to ensure the song was light and close to the audience, both in its lyrics and rhythm, because I believe that a song doesn’t always need complexity to reach people. Sometimes, a simple word and genuine emotion are what resonate most with listeners.”
Regarding his choice of Cairo for the music video shoot, Al-Saeed noted that the decision carries additional personal significance, especially as he is currently navigating a new phase after relocating there. He said, “Cairo represents a new station for me, and my move to reside here opens up different spaces for work and experiences. Therefore, I wanted my first filming experience here to be tied to a project that embodies a youthful and positive spirit like ‘Fawwat.’ The shoot took place specifically in the Zamalek district, under the direction of director and cinematographer Mohamed Salama. I aimed for the visuals to extend the song’s atmosphere, avoiding complexity and aligning with its light rhythm and direct message.”
On his artistic direction for the upcoming phase, Al-Saeed stated, “I strive to deliver works that reflect my identity while remaining close to people. I am interested in addressing situations and details we experience in our daily lives, but through a contemporary musical approach and youthful rhythms.”
He elaborated, “This phase is important to me, and I want to use it to explore different styles and experiences while maintaining my artistic identity. Most importantly, I want to establish a genuine connection with the audience, ensuring that listeners feel the song speaks to them or reflects a situation they have experienced.”
Al-Saeed emphasized that this project marks the beginning of a direction aimed at continuing to deliver contemporary songs that blend youthful rhythms with relatable lyrics. He concluded, “I hope ‘Fawwat’ reaches people as I felt it while creating it, and that it gives them a bit of positive energy, perhaps reminding them that some things truly deserve for us to say... let it go.”
