Al-Jalahma to Al-Shabab: Do not wait for the future, but participate in shaping it

The Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, affirmed Kuwait’s belief in the capabilities of youth, its confidence in their energies and creativity, and its commitment to enhancing their role so that they become genuine partners in building the nation’s future and driving its progress. He addressed Kuwaiti youth, saying, “Do not wait for the future; instead, participate in shaping it. Take the initiative, try, aspire, and let your achievements speak for you.” He stressed the importance of initiative, effort, and diligence in realizing aspirations and serving the country.
Speaking on the occasion of International Youth Day, which falls today, Minister Al-Jalahma noted that supporting youth extends beyond providing programs and activities to listening to their aspirations, opening more opportunities for them, backing their ideas and ambitions, and working to overcome obstacles that may hinder them, thereby empowering them to transform their ideas into tangible achievements.
He added that Kuwait is rich with creative and ambitious youth who possess the capabilities and potential to compete and achieve success whenever the opportunity, confidence, and support are available. He emphasized that investing in youth and empowering them constitutes a genuine investment in Kuwait’s future.
He pointed out that the world’s celebration of International Youth Day on August 12 each year, since its establishment by the UN General Assembly in 1999, reflects sustained international interest in youth issues and the enhancement of their presence and participation in development pathways and decision-making. He affirmed that this occasion serves as an opportunity to highlight youth aspirations and underscore their role as active partners in building societies and shaping the future.
He explained that the United Nations’ theme for International Youth Day 2026, “Different Lives, Shared Dreams,” reflects the reality that although youth differ in their circumstances, environments, and the challenges they face, they converge in their aspirations for a better future based on quality education, decent work, equal opportunities, and active participation.
The Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs stressed that the responsibility of governments and institutions lies in transforming these shared aspirations into real opportunities that enable youth to realize their ambitions and contribute to the development of their homelands.
He affirmed the continued effort to provide greater space for youth, create more opportunities for them, and enhance the visibility of their voices and their active participation in shaping the future of their country, in line with their aspirations and by harnessing their energies and creativity.
