Egypt launches global bidding round for oil and gas exploration in 14 areas

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi announced on Wednesday that Egypt is launching a global bidding round for oil and gas exploration in 14 new areas, open to both international and Egyptian companies.

The bidding round, which opened for applications on Tuesday, includes eight blocks belonging to the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) in the Mediterranean Sea, the Nile Delta, and North Sinai. The deadline for submitting applications for these blocks is December 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Cairo time.

The round also includes six blocks belonging to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) in the Gulf of Suez, Sinai, and the Western Desert, with the application deadline set for November 11 at 12:00 p.m. Cairo time.
