“Noor Al-Kuwait”... An Initiative to Distribute the “Diwan of Prophetic Hadith” Worldwide

The Islamic World Charity Organization, in collaboration with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), launched yesterday, Tuesday, the “Noor Kuwait” initiative to disseminate the “Diwan of Prophetic Hadith” encyclopedia worldwide. The launch was under the patronage of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, and attended by representatives of various scientific and charitable institutions.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary for the Social Care and Development Sector Iman Al-Anzi emphasized that the initiative represents an exemplary model of integration between charitable and scientific institutions in serving knowledge and disseminating the noble Prophetic Sunnah, while reinforcing the State of Kuwait’s mission to support cognitive and humanitarian projects.
Al-Anzi praised the role played by the Islamic World Charity Organization as a key partner and supporter of the initiative, commending its continuous efforts in backing scientific projects whose impact transcends geographical boundaries, reaching universities, libraries, and scientific centers worldwide. She also commended the support provided by KFAS and its contribution to the project’s success, enhancing Kuwait’s presence in research and scientific advancement.
She noted that the initiative goes beyond book distribution; it represents an investment in knowledge, a service to the Prophetic Sunnah, and a contribution to building generations more aware of the sources of their faith. This is achieved by enabling researchers and students of knowledge to access modern, verified sources according to scientific standards, thereby strengthening scientific research, promoting a correct understanding of Islam, and entrenching values of moderation and balance.
For his part, Jamal Al-Nouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Islamic World Charity Organization, stated that “Noor Kuwait” is a pioneering scientific initiative rooted in Kuwait’s civilizational mission to serve Islam and Muslims, and its belief in the importance of disseminating reliable religious knowledge and making authentic sources available to generations and scientific institutions worldwide.
Al-Nouri said that through this initiative, Kuwait adds a new cognitive and civilizational dimension to its record rich in humanitarian and charitable contributions, by supporting scientific projects that serve Islamic heritage and delivering reliable sources to universities, research centers, fatwa councils, and scientific institutions in various countries.
He explained that the “Diwan of Prophetic Hadith” encyclopedia comprises 19 sources from the major books of Hadith, spanning 142 volumes, and contains over 139,000 hadiths. It was completed using a precise scientific methodology, involving approximately 70 scholars, researchers, and specialists, through text verification, documentation, and preparation of scientific indexes, making it a reference for researchers, students of knowledge, and academic institutions.
He pointed out that the project enjoys historical support from KFAS, recalling the high directive of the late Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, then Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, to allocate one million dinars to support the project. This was based on the belief in the importance of serving the Prophetic Sunnah, preserving Islamic heritage, and disseminating it among generations.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, copies of the encyclopedia were donated to a select group of universities, scientific institutions, specialized centers, and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. This step aims to deliver this scientific output to researchers and students of knowledge, enhancing its utility in education and scientific research, reflecting Kuwait’s cognitive and civilizational role in serving knowledge and Islamic culture.
Project supervisor, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Aqeel, stated in a recorded message: “The Charitable Association has adopted the Diwan of Prophetic Hadith project, in collaboration with Dar Tasheel in Cairo. This is a strategic initiative aimed at establishing the foundations of the Prophetic Sunnah based on reputable manuscripts.”
He added: “Twenty books were selected as the most important works of Prophetic Hadith, composed during the era of compilation up to the third century of the Islamic calendar. Manuscripts were gathered from all corners of the world to complete these reference works, which contain the authentic sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
Sheikh Dr. Uthaim Al-Muqbil stated: “This achievement represents an important scholarly endeavor to preserve the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and it will serve as a guiding light. The reward is extended to all who contributed to bringing this blessed encyclopedia to fruition. This is but a minimal effort we offer in honor of the Prophet’s Sunnah. This praiseworthy and blessed endeavor also serves as a refutation of those who deny the Sunnah and others like them.”
