In a move reflecting its ongoing commitment to developing its human capital and building a work environment based on learning and innovation—recently demonstrated by Ooredoo Kuwait being honored with the “Employer of Choice” title and winning the “Best Employee Benefits Package” award at the HRM Summit & Awards—the company has launched the “Beyond the Role” series. This educational initiative aims to broaden the horizons of its employees, consolidate a culture of continuous learning, and provide teams with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and insights that extend beyond their daily responsibilities.
The initiative embodies Ooredoo Kuwait’s vision that employee development is not limited to enhancing job-related skills, but extends to empowering them to understand the transformations occurring in the world around them. It equips them with knowledge that helps them make more informed decisions and enhances their ability to innovate, adapt, and grow, both professionally and personally.
“Beyond the Role” serves as an interactive platform for knowledge exchange, bringing together Ooredoo Kuwait employees with a select group of experts and specialists in diverse fields. This opens up new spaces for learning, dialogue, and exploring topics that transcend the traditional framework, providing them with practical tools that can be applied in their daily lives and professional careers.
In this context, Omar Al-Bassam, Head of Human Resources and Administrative Services, stated: “At Ooredoo Kuwait, we believe that investing in our human capital is investing in the future of the organization. Building a workforce capable of keeping pace with changes begins by providing opportunities for continuous learning and acquiring new knowledge. Today’s employee needs not only to excel in performing their role but also to be curious, flexible, and open to learning, capable of understanding and adapting to the transformations around them. From this perspective, the ‘Beyond the Role’ initiative was launched to broaden the horizons of our teams and give them the opportunity to acquire knowledge and experiences that go beyond the boundaries of their job roles, thereby enriching their professional and personal careers and enhancing their readiness for the future.”
Al-Bassam added: “We are not just building today’s skills; we are preparing tomorrow’s workforce. Through knowledge-sharing initiatives, we continue to empower our teams with the knowledge and ideas that enhance innovation, support their ability to make better decisions, and qualify them to meet future requirements with confidence and readiness.”
For his part, Issa Al-Bashir, First Manager of Human Resources, said: “The ‘Beyond the Role’ initiative reflects our belief that true learning begins when we go beyond the limits of what we know and do daily. Therefore, we designed this series to give our employees space to discover new fields, ask questions, exchange experiences, and turn knowledge into tangible value in their lives and work.”
He added: “We want Ooredoo Kuwait to be an environment where employees are not content with merely performing their roles, but feel that they are constantly developing and gaining a broader perspective of the world around them. When we provide our employees with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to learn outside their specializations, we not only develop more efficient individuals, but we also build more innovative, flexible, and future-ready teams.”
To date, the “Beyond the Role” series has hosted three interactive educational sessions covering topics directly linked to the rapid transformations in the business world and daily life, including sustainability, financial literacy, and artificial intelligence, with participation from a distinguished group of specialists and experts in their respective fields. These sessions mark the launch of the series, which Ooredoo Kuwait will continue to offer throughout the year as part of an ongoing initiative aimed at providing continuous opportunities for learning, knowledge sharing, and acquiring new skills that extend beyond traditional job roles.
The series kicked off with a session titled “Sustainability in Daily Decisions,” presented by Yasser Al-Mutawa from SEEDS. The session explored the concept of sustainability from a practical perspective, framing it as an approach that can be integrated into daily decisions both within and outside the workplace. It highlighted examples of how various departments, including customer service, marketing, human resources, and procurement, can contribute to adopting more responsible and sustainable practices, thereby transforming sustainability from a general concept into a daily behavior and practice.
The second session, titled “Investment 101: How to Start Your Investment Journey,” focused on financial literacy and its importance in empowering individuals to make more informed financial and investment decisions. The session was presented by Reem Al-Mutairi from Zad, Kuwait’s first-of-its-kind digital investment platform. She outlined the fundamental principles of investing, the importance of financial planning, and the role of building financial knowledge in making well-considered decisions that contribute to achieving long-term financial goals.
The third session, titled “Mastering Artificial Intelligence,” was delivered by Ahmed Bakri from the Kuwait Digital Academy. He highlighted the rapid evolution of AI and its growing impact on the business environment and daily life. The session also provided a practical perspective on AI capabilities and real-world applications, clarifying the distinction between actual uses of these technologies and common misconceptions surrounding them, while outlining key trends shaping the future of the field.
Ooredoo Kuwait will continue the “Beyond the Role” series throughout the year by organizing recurring educational sessions on diverse topics that align with employees’ interests and needs, opening up new horizons for learning and knowledge. These sessions are scheduled to take place weekly every Thursday, creating a continuous space that brings together work teams with experts and specialists from various fields, thereby fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge exchange within Ooredoo Kuwait.
Through the year-long continuation of “Beyond the Role,” Ooredoo Kuwait reaffirms its commitment to building a work environment that encourages curiosity and continuous development, giving employees the opportunity to learn beyond their daily roles. This contributes to enhancing their skills, broadening their perspectives, and strengthening their readiness for future demands.
“Beyond the Role” aligns with Ooredoo Kuwait’s ongoing strategy to build a work environment that places human capital at the core of development, providing employees with continuous opportunities for learning, knowledge sharing, and skill acquisition. The initiative also reflects the company’s belief that organizations best prepared for the future are those that invest in their people, encourage continuous learning, and provide the space for individuals to discover their potential beyond the boundaries of their traditional roles.
Through these initiatives, Ooredoo Kuwait continues to embed an institutional culture rooted in continuous learning, curiosity, innovation, and talent empowerment, thereby enhancing its teams’ readiness to navigate future changes and reaffirming its commitment to fostering a work environment that supports the sustainable growth of both individuals and the organization.
