Barcelona loses young player Bardagi for an extended period

Barcelona – AFP – Barcelona, the Spanish football league champions, lost Syrian-born, Swedish-naturalized winger Roni Bardhi for an extended period due to a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee, the Catalan club announced on Monday.

Bardhi, who joined Barcelona last summer from Danish club Copenhagen for €2.5 million, sustained the injury during Monday’s training sessions and could be sidelined for up to seven months, according to Catalan press reports.

Bardhi, who struggled for playing time last season amid the emergence of young talent Lamine Yamal, was expected to leave the Catalan club, particularly after the arrivals of English winger Anthony Gordon and German winger Karim Adeyemi.

The young player, born in Kuwait to Syrian parents from Aleppo before moving to Sweden at the age of six, had previously suffered a serious knee injury in May 2024 that kept him out of action for nearly a year, before returning in March 2025.
