"Blue-Handed" Meets Austrian Champion

Kuwait’s senior national handball team will kick off its friendly matches during its current training camp in Slovenia, in preparation for the Asian Games (Asiad Japan), when it faces Austria’s champions, HC Fivers Margareten, on Wednesday.

The technical staff of the “Blue Team” is relying on these experimental matches to enhance the players’ technical and physical readiness, particularly as the national team enters the final phase of its preparations before the Asiad competitions.

Over the past period, the technical staff has focused on improving physical fitness levels, while also working on developing team performance and implementing various tactical sequences and technical plans, both defensively and offensively.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s junior national handball team lost to Bahrain in two friendly matches, with scores of 24-26 and 22-23, concluding the “Junior Blues’” preparations for the 11th Junior Asian Championship, scheduled to take place in Jordan from August 20 to 31.

At the end of the camp, National Teams Director Faisal Saywan stated that the friendly experience was highly beneficial for the technical staff, especially given the tight schedule before the championship begins. He noted that the Bahraini team is among the contenders for the title.

He explained that the technical staff emerged from the final preparation phase with a clear understanding of the key areas requiring improvement and reinforcement, as well as the strengths that can be built upon in the remaining time before the competitions.

He added that the focus in the coming phase will be on enhancing technical and physical readiness, strengthening defensive aspects, and addressing errors observed during the friendly matches, ensuring the team arrives at the championship in the best possible condition.
