Hamad bin Isa and Haitham bin Tariq affirm the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation
Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq emphasized “the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in all international waterways, which contributes to supporting international trade and enhancing global economic stability.”
The official Bana News Agency reported in a statement that the two leaders “reviewed by phone the close fraternal bilateral relations linking the two brotherly countries,” and discussed “the latest developments and regional and international situations of common interest on both the regional and international stages.”
The Bahraini king “praised the prominent role played by the Sultanate of Oman and its persistent efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that ensures the return of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The Omani News Agency reported that Haitham bin Tariq exchanged “views on ways to enhance security and stability in the region” during a call he received from Hamad bin Isa.
They also discussed “the solid fraternal relations linking the two countries and their brotherly peoples, and ways to develop them in various sectors to serve common interests and aspirations.”
In a separate development, Bahrain’s Grand Criminal Court issued several rulings in separate cases related to joining a terrorist group, conspiring with the Revolutionary Guard, and endorsing Iranian acts against the kingdom.
The deputy head of the Terrorism Crimes Prosecution Office stated that the court issued two rulings in two separate cases, condemning three defendants for crimes of joining a terrorist group and acting in its interest, by carrying out hostile and terrorist acts against the kingdom and harming its interests.
The Grand Criminal Court issued a ruling in a case “related to conspiring with a hostile foreign state, in which two defendants were convicted of conspiring with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and those working in its interest, to assist it in its hostile and terrorist acts against Bahrain and harm its interests. The court sentenced them to life imprisonment and ordered the confiscation of seized items.”
It also issued rulings in three separate cases “related to several individuals endorsing and approving Iran’s terrorist attacks against Bahrain, amid Iranian terrorist attacks targeting the kingdom. The court sentenced three defendants to prison terms of up to 10 years, fined some of them amounts up to 5,000 dinars, and ordered the confiscation of seized items.”
