Kuwait condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s condemnation and rejection of the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli occupation authorities’ sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan, and reaffirmed its opposition to this step, which violates international law and resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, particularly Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed the occupation authority’s imposition of its laws and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan null and void and without any legal effect.

Kuwait reiterated its firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land, and its rejection of any decisions aimed at entrenching the occupation or legitimizing it, emphasizing the principle that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.

It affirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity, and renewed its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, and to compel Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
