Removal of violations in Shuwaikh Residential Area

KUNA – Kuwait Municipality has continued its field campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” to monitor and remove violations constructed on state lands, aiming to curb unsightly practices and the accumulation of waste in residential areas.

Sulaiman Al-Ghaith, head of the Violations Removal Department at the Municipality’s Capital Governorate branch, said in a media statement during a municipal tour in the Shuwaikh residential area that building diwaniyas (traditional gathering spaces) across streets constitutes a clear violation of regulations and laws.

Al-Ghaith explained that the municipality’s field team monitored and issued a warning to the owner of the diwaniya, granting a period exceeding 14 days for its voluntary removal, as part of enforcing the law.

He noted that despite the high temperatures and humidity, municipal teams are fully carrying out their supervisory duties to reduce and eliminate violations on state lands.

He pointed out that the campaign continues to remove and prevent the construction of green fences around house setbacks or the erection of diwaniyas on sidewalks, which endanger pedestrians and increase the likelihood of traffic accidents.

Al-Ghaith clarified that Kuwait Municipality operates in accordance with regulations that outline procedures and fines that property owners must comply with, including regulations on cleanliness, road obstructions, and safety.

Al-Ghaith urged owners of encroachments on state properties in private and model residential areas to promptly remove all forms of encroachments before the Municipality takes legal measures, which may include financial fines.
