UK Approves 'Fondue' for Type 2 Diabetes Treatment

- Its use is permitted to reduce weight in individuals with a body mass index (BMI) between 27 and 30

- It reduces feelings of hunger and intense cravings for food

- It is taken once daily at any time, without restrictions on food or water

London, KUNA – The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) granted, on Monday, a license for Orforglipron tablets, commercially known as Foundayo, which are used for weight management and the treatment of type 2 diabetes, making the United Kingdom the first European country to approve this product.

In a statement, the MHRA revealed that “in addition to following a low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity, Orforglipron is permitted for weight loss and maintenance in adults in the UK who have a BMI of 30 or more, or a BMI between 27 and 30 and have at least one weight-related condition.”

It added that “the product is also permitted to improve blood sugar control in patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes.”

Orforglipron reduces feelings of hunger and intense cravings for food, and lowers blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes when they are elevated. It is taken once daily at any time, without restrictions on food or water.
