Barcelona Rejects Initial Offer from PSG for Ferran Torres

Barcelona – AFP – Barcelona rejected an initial offer from French club Paris Saint-Germain on Monday to sign their forward Ferran Torres, a 2026 World Cup champion with Spain, valued at approximately 40 million euros ($46.2 million), according to a source inside the Catalan club who spoke to AFP.

According to several Spanish media outlets, Torres, who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final, has given his approval to move to Paris and play under his former coach Luis Enrique.

The 26-year-old Spanish striker’s contract with Barcelona expires in June 2027, and he had left his future open in recent interviews during a promotional tour in the United States.

Torres said at the time: “I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football, you never know. I’m just waiting to make the right decision.”

When asked if he had a “dream” destination in mind, he answered affirmatively without revealing it, saying: “I just want to be happy.”

The versatile winger, whom Barcelona signed in 2021 for more than 55 million euros, has been used as a central striker and as a substitute for Polish forward Robert Lewandowski since German coach Hansi Flick took charge of the Catalan team in the summer of 2024.

Torres, nicknamed “The Shark,” who came through Valencia’s youth ranks, has made a significant impact in many of his appearances as a substitute, scoring 40 goals in 94 matches for Barcelona across all competitions over the past two seasons.

Torres scored the winning goal for Spain against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final after extra time (1-0), securing La Roja’s second world title.
