Egyptian Stock Exchange Surpasses 55,000-Point Milestone for the First Time in Its History

In a first-time achievement in its history, Egypt’s main EGX30 index surpassed the 55,000-point milestone on Sunday, setting a new record high, and rose by 0.71 percent. The EGX70 index for small and mid-cap shares climbed 2.2 percent to reach 20,430 points, while the broader EGX100 index advanced 1.72 percent to 26,556 points.

In a separate development, the External Trade Bulletin issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) today, covering May 2026, revealed that the trade deficit stood at $3.99 billion, down 0.3 percent from $4 billion in the same month last year.

The bulletin showed that exports rose by 3.58 percent, reaching $4.53 billion in May, compared with $4.37 billion previously.

Imports increased by 1.72 percent, totaling $8.52 billion, compared with $8.37 billion.

On another note, Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for New Urban Communities, stated that by August 15 of this year, approximately 99 investment opportunities will be listed on the Authority’s Investor Services Portal in Egyptian pounds for Egyptian companies, with varied land sizes catering to different investors. These plots range from 500 square meters for small and medium projects to more than 39 feddans for large-scale, multi-activity projects. During August 2026, around 204 applications from foreign companies were received.
