US Allocates $3 Billion to Support Critical Minerals, Batteries, and Mining

“Direct” – U.S. President Donald Trump announced the allocation of approximately $3 billion to support critical minerals projects, battery initiatives, and education and training programs in the mining sector, as part of the U.S. administration’s efforts to boost domestic production and secure supplies of essential materials for advanced and defense industries.

The funding includes a $1.4 billion loan to help establish a new facility for producing lithium battery components, along with $150 million to expand production of strong magnets that do not rely on rare earth elements.

The funding package also includes $400 million to support a scandium production project in Australia, as well as additional financing for projects in the minerals and advanced materials sectors.

Trump stated that the investments aim to enhance the United States’ capacity to produce the materials and minerals essential for a wide range of high-tech products, including batteries, semiconductors, and defense equipment.

Critical minerals and rare earth elements are used in the manufacturing of missiles, nuclear submarines, fighter jets, and other advanced technologies, making the development of stable and secure supply chains for these materials a priority for the United States.
