Bahrain condemns the treacherous Iranian attack on an Emirati oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strongest condemnation and rejection today, Saturday, of the treacherous Iranian attack with a missile on an ADNOC oil tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and Security Council Resolution 2817, and a serious threat to maritime navigation security and energy supplies.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates and its complete support for the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and vital interests, based on the deep-rooted historical fraternal ties between the leaderships and peoples of the two brotherly countries.

It stressed that the security and stability of the UAE are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security, emphasizing the need for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take deterrent measures to protect the security and safety of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and vital waterways, and to compel Iran to reopen the strait and refrain from targeting commercial vessels, thereby preserving the interests of the countries of the region and the world and safeguarding regional security and stability.
