US Appeals Court Orders Halt to Trump’s Project to Build a Ballroom at the White House

An appeals court on Friday upheld a lower court ruling that halted construction work on the ceremonial hall that President Donald Trump has shown particular interest in at the White House, but it delayed enforcement of the decision for two weeks to allow for the possibility of an appeal to the Supreme Court. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued a 2-1 decision upholding a lower court order that suspended most above-ground construction work at the White House, a ruling whose enforcement had been stayed pending the appeals court’s decision.
