The Summer Scout Club... Comprehensive Programs to Develop Students' Skills
The Summer Scout Club under the Ministry of Education continues to offer its educational and training programs aimed at developing students’ skills and refining their personalities through a diverse system of workshops and activities that combine learning with practical application. These initiatives promote values of leadership, volunteerism, and national belonging, while keeping pace with modern technologies in a comprehensive educational environment.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Fudari, Head of Programs and Activities at the club, emphasized that the club provides a complete system of programs and training workshops at its headquarters in the Religious Institute in the Qurtaiba area. He explained that the daily program includes a variety of workshops and activities designed to enhance students’ skills in leadership, national identity, volunteerism, and technology.
In a statement issued by the club on Wednesday, Al-Fudari highlighted key workshops such as “Scout Charisma,” which aims to develop communication, leadership, public speaking, and presentation skills. He also pointed to the First Aid workshop, where participants learn the basics of handling common emergencies such as bleeding, fractures, and choking, thereby raising awareness and ensuring proper preparedness for various situations.
He added that the club also offers group games workshops to strengthen leadership and teamwork spirit, as well as a Scout Ropes workshop where participants learn about different types of knots, ties, and scout loops, and how to utilize them effectively in various scouting activities.
Al-Fudari noted that the daily program begins with the flag salute, a step aimed at instilling loyalty and national belonging in students’ hearts. This is followed by the scout call, which creates an atmosphere of enthusiasm and encouragement, alongside daily competitions and prizes to motivate participants to engage and take part actively.
He stated that the club welcomes students daily starting at 5:00 PM, and registration will remain open until the end of August. He urged students to enroll and benefit from the programs and activities offered under the slogan “Be Prepared,” underscoring the importance of preparing scouts to handle various circumstances and emergencies.
Parents were encouraged to support their children’s participation in the club, which offers high-quality programs and diverse workshops covering volunteer work and national activities related to the flag of the State of Kuwait, alongside educational and skill-building programs that contribute to shaping students’ personalities.
He further noted that the club keeps pace with technological developments through an Artificial Intelligence workshop, where students learn how to use AI technologies to transform images and drawings into creative works inspired by scouting activities. This includes designing artistic pieces inspired by the Kuwaiti flag, fostering creativity and innovation while combining national identity with modern technology.
Scout leader Yousef Al-Shatti confirmed that the First Aid workshop is among the most prominent training programs offered by the club. It covers several key topics, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), handling choking incidents, bleeding, fractures, burns, seizures, and heatstroke, along with a range of initial first aid procedures that help enhance participants’ readiness to deal with emergency situations.
He added that the workshop is not limited to theoretical aspects; it includes practical applications and field training, where students practice performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) according to proper standards. This enhances their practical skills and equips them with sufficient knowledge to respond appropriately when needed, reflecting the club’s commitment to promoting first-aid awareness and raising community consciousness among participants.
Scout leader Abdullah Al-Qattan said the club places great emphasis on teaching participants fundamental scouting skills through the knots and lashings station, which represents one of the main components of the club’s training program.
Al-Qattan explained that participants train on various scouting knots and lashings, including the bowline knot and the square lashing, alongside learning the practical applications of each, particularly during camping and outdoor scouting activities. He emphasized that these skills contribute to developing students’ practical abilities, foster self-reliance, and prepare them to participate effectively in various scouting programs and events.
