Egyptian Summit on October 11

The draw for the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League placed defending champions Al Ahly against their traditional rivals Zamalek in the sixth round, with the match scheduled for October 11 at Cairo International Stadium.

The Egyptian Professional Leagues Association conducted the draw for the new season on Wednesday, attended by club representatives. The opening round features several high-profile clashes, including Zamalek versus Ismailia, Al Ahly versus Sharqia, ENPPI versus Misr El-Makasa, and Ghazl El Mahalla versus Pyramids.

Other first-round fixtures include Wadi Degla against ZED, Abu Qir Fertilizers against National Bank of Egypt, Tala’ea El Gaish against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Petrojet against Asyut Petroleum, El Gouna against Modern Sport, and Ceramica against Al Gaish.

The draw also set up a highly anticipated meeting between Zamalek and runners-up Pyramids in the thirteenth round, scheduled for December 28.

Ahmed Diab, President of the Egyptian Professional Leagues Association, stated that the goal is to maintain the league’s regular schedule for the third consecutive season without postponing any matches, thereby ensuring fairness among clubs and serving the interests of the Egyptian national team.

Diab added that the spectator capacity for matches held at Cairo International Stadium and Borg El Arab Stadium will increase to 40,000 fans during the new season.

The first phase will be played as a single round-robin league involving all participating clubs. In the second phase, teams will be divided into two groups: the first group of six clubs will compete for the title, while the second group of 14 teams will battle to avoid relegation. Four clubs will be relegated to the Second Division.

Zamalek won the Egyptian Premier League title last season, with Pyramids finishing as runners-up and Al Ahly, the record title holders, placing third.
