Armed man arrested at Trump-owned golf course in California ahead of president's visit

A gunman was detained on Sunday at a golf course owned by Donald Trump in California, two days before a scheduled visit by the U.S. president to the site on Tuesday evening (local time), according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The arrest took place on Sunday afternoon at the golf course located in Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles.

The suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taylor, was found with “a 16-round magazine containing ammunition in his pants pocket.”

Subsequently, the sheriff’s office and the FBI’s counterterrorism division conducted a search of the man’s home in Downey, a Los Angeles suburb, where they discovered a rifle, a handgun, a bulletproof vest, ammunition magazines, ammunition, two walkie-talkies, and “notebooks containing alarming phrases.”

Investigators submitted the case file on Tuesday morning to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether to pursue criminal charges.
