"Fire Department": Calm and Accurate Reporting... Key to Incident Response

The General Fireforce has called on citizens and residents to adhere to a set of basic guidelines when reporting emergencies, emphasizing that the speed and accuracy of information directly contribute to accelerating the arrival of rescue teams and handling incidents efficiently.

Colonel Mohammed Faisal Al-Fadalah, from the Public Relations and Media Department, stressed that the first step in dealing with any emergency is to remain calm and control one’s nerves when calling the emergency number (112), ensuring that the call receiver is provided with accurate and clear information.

Al-Fadalah, through an awareness video, highlighted the importance of providing the correct and detailed address of the incident location, along with specifying the nature of the report—whether it is a fire, a hostage situation, a traffic accident, or another type of incident—to direct the relevant teams and prepare appropriate equipment before arriving at the site.

He also emphasized the necessity of immediately evacuating the affected area and moving to a safe place, without returning to the danger zone until the fire and rescue teams arrive, and following their instructions to ensure everyone’s safety.

He noted that these guidelines are part of the ongoing awareness campaign conducted by the General Fireforce to promote a culture of prevention and enhance public awareness, thereby contributing to the protection of lives and property and raising the level of public safety in the country.
