25,114 traffic violations in a week
Security and traffic campaigns carried out by the Traffic Affairs and Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Emergency Police, across various governorates of the country, resulted in the issuance of 25,114 traffic violations over two weeks. Additionally, 1,969 security operations were conducted, 1,032 humanitarian assistance cases were handled, 89 wanted individuals were apprehended, and 40 individuals whose residency permits had expired were detained. These efforts are part of continuous initiatives to enhance road safety, improve discipline on the roads, apprehend violators, and ensure the law is applied to all.
Regarding the campaigns conducted by the General Directorate of Emergency Police, which took place from July 26 to August 1, they yielded numerous apprehensions and security and traffic achievements.
On the security front, the campaigns resulted in 1,969 security operations, the apprehension of 38 wanted individuals, 27 wanted vehicles, 20 individuals whose residency permits had expired, 13 individuals without official identification, and 3 individuals suspected of abnormal behavior. Furthermore, 3 individuals suspected of drug-related offenses were apprehended and referred to the General Directorate of Combating Narcotics to take the necessary legal actions.
On the traffic side, field teams issued 934 traffic violations, impounded 15 vehicles for violating traffic laws and regulations, handled 164 traffic accident reports, and provided 1,032 humanitarian assistance cases.
As for the campaigns conducted by the General Directorate of Traffic, which took place from July 27 to August 1, they resulted in the issuance of 24,180 traffic violations, the detention of 20 individuals at the Traffic Department, and the referral of 6 minors to the Juvenile Prosecution to complete legal procedures against them. Additionally, 237 vehicles and 3 motorcycles were impounded in the impound lot.
The Operations Department also handled 2,443 traffic reports, including follow-up by patrols on 985 collision incidents and 171 collision incidents resulting in injuries. Legal procedures were taken and cases were referred to the relevant police stations, while efforts were made to maintain smooth traffic flow.
On the security front, 3 individuals suspected of possessing narcotics were apprehended and referred to the General Directorate of Combating Narcotics. One individual without official identification and 20 individuals whose residency permits had expired were also detained. Furthermore, 51 wanted individuals and 16 wanted vehicles were apprehended, and all individuals and vehicles were transferred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions.
