Al-Suwailm: Strengthening joint efforts to highlight the true image of Islam

Al-Suwailm told KUNA after the meeting that the discussion covered the “project to establish a Gulf scientific observatory” and a working paper on “developments in countering deviant ideologies.” He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to active participation in the work of specialized Gulf committees, thereby enhancing joint efforts to present the true image of Islam, consolidate the values of moderation and centrism, and confront extremism, fanaticism, and sectarianism, contributing to strengthening intellectual security in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

In a related development, Deputy Minister Al-Suwailm participated via video conferencing in the 43rd meeting of the Standing Committee of Specialists in Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the GCC countries, attended by representatives of the General Secretariat for Endowments.

Al-Suwailm told KUNA after the meeting that the committee discussed several proposals, most notably those submitted by Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs regarding the “establishment of a national indicator for the impact of endowments on society” and the “enhanced conceptual framework for the mechanism of presenting experiences in Islamic affairs.”

He added that the meeting also discussed a proposal from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance concerning Arab cultural dialogue between the East and the West, as well as monitoring the implementation of joint work decisions and other emerging initiatives. Al-Suwailm emphasized that the ministry’s participation in the meeting aligns with its commitment to supporting joint Gulf efforts and contributing to initiatives and projects that enhance the impact of endowments, keep pace with contemporary changes, and achieve the strategic objectives of the GCC countries in this field.
