“Al-Tamuh” organized an awareness forum on “Down Syndrome and Heart Problems”

Rahab Bursali, the National Director of Special Olympics Kuwait and a member of the Committee on the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, told KUNA that the awareness seminars organized by Special Olympics aim to raise awareness among families of persons with disabilities about the key health challenges their children may face, and to emphasize the importance of early intervention, which helps mitigate complications of disability and improve quality of life.

Bursali said that Dr. Al-Hudhud was selected to deliver the lecture due to her extensive expertise in pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, and fetal medicine, as well as her distinguished professional record in diagnosing and treating heart conditions in children, particularly those with Down syndrome.

She added that these seminars contribute to empowering families by providing them with reliable health information, thereby strengthening their confidence in managing their children’s health conditions and enabling them to make appropriate decisions at the right time, while also supporting caregivers, especially parents.
