Fans of Anbar Said bid him farewell with sincere prayers

Fans of the late Anbar Saeed, former star of Al-Arabi Club and the Kuwait national football team, mourned his passing at Al-Salhiya Cemetery amid an atmosphere of grief. Athletes, supporters, and admirers gathered to bid farewell to one of Kuwaiti football’s most prominent figures, recalling his career brimming with achievements and contributions, and the significant sporting and humanitarian legacy he left in the memory of Kuwaiti sports.

The late Anbar Saeed was among the most prominent strikers of the golden generation of Kuwaiti football, who shone with Al-Arabi Club and the national team during the 1980s.

“We mourn with deep sorrow and grief the passing of Captain Anbar Saeed, one of the symbols of Al-Arabi Club and Kuwaiti football, who left behind a great sporting legacy and a career full of dedication and achievements. He was an example of high sporting ethics both on and off the pitch, distinguished by his respect for his teammates and opponents, and served as a model of commitment and fair play. The Kuwaiti sporting family is today grieving the loss of a major sporting figure and a beloved personality who contributed greatly to Kuwaiti football and helped create many achievements that will remain firmly etched in the public’s memory.”

For his part, former Al-Jahra Club president Khaled Al-Jarallah said: “Kuwaiti sports has lost one of its most loyal sons with the passing of Captain Anbar Saeed, whose name will remain engraved in the memory of sporting fans for the dedication and achievements he presented throughout his career.”

He added: “The late was an example of sporting ethics on and off the pitch, known for his respect for everyone and his commitment to the spirit of fair play. He was respected by his teammates and admirers across various clubs. His passing is not only a loss for Al-Arabi Club, but for Kuwaiti sports as a whole. He was a model of a gentleman player who combined talent with humility and good conduct.”

Former international player Osama Hussein expressed his sorrow over the passing of one of Kuwaiti football’s stars and his teammate in the national team, saying:

“The late was distinguished by his noble character, which made him loved by everyone within and outside the sporting community. On the green pitch, he was a great player and a fair competitor who respected everyone. He was an example of humility, dedication, and commitment. His distinction was not limited to what he offered on the field alone; he was a person close to everyone, carrying love and appreciation for those around him, even after his retirement.”
