"AI Technician": A New Major at the Applied College

In line with supporting technical education pathways and aligning them with labor market needs, the Higher Institute of Communications and Navigation, under the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, has introduced a new specialization in “Artificial Intelligence Technician” within its computer science and information technology programs. This move reflects the broader government direction toward keeping pace with digital transformations and enhancing the readiness of national human resources.

Sources familiar with the matter told Al-Rai that the introduction of this specialization was undertaken in compliance with the state’s development plan and in keeping with the institute’s commitment to preparing and qualifying national technical personnel holding diplomas after secondary education, in alignment with the growing occupational requirements in modern technology fields, particularly artificial intelligence and its applications.

The sources noted that the institute proactively contacted relevant government entities that play a key role in employing national technical staff, to identify their actual needs for graduates of the new specialization over the next five years, thereby ensuring that educational outputs are aligned with labor market demands. They also clarified that the institute has assigned liaison officers to these government entities to facilitate coordination, respond to inquiries, and strengthen direct communication channels, thereby supporting sound planning for future employment needs.
