Kuwaitis' stock market purchases rise by 299.5 million dinars over seven months

Monthly statistics on trading volume by nationality showed that Kuwaiti net purchases in the stock market rose by KD 299.52 million over the first seven months of 2026, including KD 45.765 million in July.
Conversely, foreign investments declined by approximately KD 255.36 million from the beginning of the year, dropping by KD 44.03 million in July. This decrease was driven by a KD 252.91 million decline in trading by foreign institutions and companies, a drop of KD 85,000 in individual trading, and a fall of KD 2.36 million in investment funds.
Gulf investors’ holdings fell by KD 44.162 million over the seven-month period, with a KD 1.728 million decline in July. Trading by Gulf institutions and companies decreased by KD 22.143 million, individual trading fell by KD 19.256 million, and investment funds dropped by KD 2.76 million. On a monthly basis, individual trading in July declined by KD 2.01 million, while trading by institutions and companies rose by KD 284,405.
On the other hand, stock market trading accounts increased by 1.95 percent over the seven-month period, adding 9,080 accounts to reach 473,710, compared to 464,630 in December. Kuwaiti accounts rose by 1.9 percent, adding 8,300 to reach 446,409, while Gulf accounts increased by 2.45 percent to 5,422, and foreign accounts rose by 3 percent to 21,880.
Active trading accounts grew by 12.6 percent, adding 6,024 accounts from 47,670 in December to 53,694 by the end of July. Meanwhile, dormant accounts increased by 0.73 percent, adding approximately 3,056 accounts, rising from 416,969 to 420,000 accounts.
