Events of the Brutal Invasion: "A Memory That Never Fades" ... at the Union of Artists and Media Professionals

On the thirty-sixth anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, a “memory that does not fade” has been documented by the Kuwaiti Union of Artists and Media Professionals at its headquarters in the Shuwaikh area. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Union’s President, Dr. Nabil Al-Filakawi, and featured a select group of artists who presented works inspired by themes of resilience and patriotism.

The exhibition walls displayed a diverse collection of visual art paintings, sculptures, ceramic works, and photographs, which highlighted key moments in Kuwait’s history. Through various artistic visions, the pieces expressed the national memory, demonstrating the role of art in preserving historical events and evoking them for future generations.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Al-Filakawi stated that the organization of the “Memory That Does Not Fade” exhibition stems from a commitment to commemorating the suffering Kuwait endured during the brutal Iraqi invasion, and to embedding these events in the memory of new generations so they are not forgotten. He noted that the participating works depicted events and situations, either on a general level or through specific human experiences, reflecting the artists’ visions and feelings toward that era. He emphasized that art is one of the most important means of preserving and documenting national memory for future generations.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Al-Filakawi honored the participating artists in recognition of their artistic contributions and their role in the success of the exhibition, as well as for the works they presented that embodied the national memory and evoked the events of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
