Capital Governor: Entrenching the Culture of Sign Language in Society

The Governor of the Capital, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, emphasized the importance of embedding sign language culture in society, as it serves as a bridge for communication with the deaf community. He commended national efforts aimed at raising awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities and enhancing their active participation in development, in line with the humanitarian approach that the State of Kuwait affords this cherished group.

This came during the Governor’s reception of Ali Al-Kandari, a sign language interpreter for the deaf and mute, accompanied by Mohammed Al-Kandari and Yousef Al-Rashid. The meeting underscored the Governorate’s commitment to supporting community and humanitarian initiatives designed to empower persons with disabilities and promote their integration across various spheres of life.

The Governor praised Ali Al-Kandari’s outstanding efforts in sign language interpretation and his prominent role in conveying awareness and media messages to the deaf community, thereby contributing to enhanced social communication and the consolidation of principles of inclusivity and equal opportunity.

He added that the Capital Governorate will continue to support community initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and strengthening partnerships with holders of national initiatives, driven by a sense of social responsibility and a commitment to building a more inclusive and cohesive society that provides all its members with opportunities to participate, innovate, and serve the nation.
