Yarmouk and Salhiya Top the Headlines

Al-Yarmouk climbed to the top of the First Division “Zain League” table after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Al-Shamiah on Sunday, as part of the 16th round. The round also saw Al-Sahel stumble again, drawing with Buraq and losing the top spot, while a valuable win for Al-Salmiya over Khaitan (1-0) placed them joint leaders.

“Al-Masharaf’s sons,” who saw their goals scored by Belgian Isaac Mbenza (2) and Brazilian Joao Vitor, increased their tally to 35 points, matching Al-Salmiya’s total. Al-Salmiya’s only goal came from their player Nasser Al-Filakawi against Khaitan.

As for Al-Sahel, who recorded their second consecutive draw, they settled for a single point from their match against Buraq, which dropped them to third place with 34 points.

In a fourth match of the round, Al-Jazira kept alive their hopes of competing for one of the two promotion spots to the Premier League next season, after securing a well-deserved 3-0 win over Sporty. The goals were scored by Nigerian Isaac James, Ivorian Charles Yao, and French player Hadi Sha’bi, moving the winners to 31 points. Meanwhile, the losers remained on three points, sitting in last place behind Al-Shamiah (10), Buraq (15), and Khaitan (18).
