Body in a Suitcase

Sky News – Greek police arrested a man on Sunday following the discovery of the body of a Scottish woman inside a suitcase in the Greek capital, Athens.

Police said the 26-year-old suspect, who holds foreign nationality, had a replica pistol and a knife found in his home. He has been charged with manslaughter, theft, and violations of weapons possession laws, according to The Associated Press.

On July 18, a homeless man discovered the body of 38-year-old Elizabeth-Jane Ross inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in the Kipseli area of Athens.

It is believed that Ross died between six and seven days before her body was found. However, reports indicate that someone continued to use her mobile phone to send messages that appeared to originate from her.

Greek police were able to identify her through fingerprint analysis.

Information suggests that Ross, who is believed to be from Edinburgh, Scotland, entered Greece on June 26 and initially stayed with friends in the port city of Piraeus.

She is then said to have left to meet American friends in another part of Athens, though it remains unclear whether this meeting actually took place.
